Data Engineer
- Data Engineer with 5 years of experience building data pipelines in AWS using Python, SQL, and Spark; strong communicator and fast learner interested in analytics and ML use cases.
- Built ETL pipelines in Airflow to move data from multiple sources into S3/Redshift and improved data availability for reporting.
- Led a migration from on-prem SQL Server to AWS and partnered with stakeholders across teams; reduced infrastructure costs by ~20%.
- Developed a Kafka + Spark Structured Streaming ingestion job for clickstream events, processing millions of events per day and meeting SLA requirements.
- Created dbt models and basic data quality checks to support the analytics team and reduce data issues.
- Tech: Python, SQL, AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue), Airflow, Spark, Kafka, dbt, Snowflake, Docker, Git
Overview
- Quantify impact and scale more precisely (latency, cost baseline, freshness, data volumes).
- Clarify ownership and scope (what you led vs contributed; systems migrated; stakeholders served).
- Tighten generic phrasing and replace with specific outcomes, constraints, and implementation details.
Suggestions
Rewrite to specify sources, cadence, SLAs, and measurable improvements. Example: "Built 12 Airflow DAGs ingesting Salesforce + Postgres + SFTP feeds (250GB/day) into S3/Redshift; improved dashboard freshness from 24h to 2h and cut pipeline failure rate from 8% to 2% via retries, backfills, and alerting."
The current bullet lists tools but not the scale, reliability, or business result. Adding volume, freshness, and reliability metrics makes the impact credible and comparable.

Clarify what "led" means and how the migration was executed. Example: "Led migration of 3 SQL Server OLTP replicas (1.2TB) to AWS RDS + Redshift using AWS DMS; coordinated cutover with Finance/RevOps, reduced monthly licensing + hardware spend by 20% (~$18K/mo)."
The cost reduction is hard to evaluate without a baseline and the migrated footprint. Naming the number/size of systems and the mechanism (DMS, RDS, Redshift, etc.) strengthens ownership and technical depth.

Add concrete streaming details (throughput, latency, partitioning, state management, failure handling). Example: "Built Kafka -> Spark Structured Streaming pipeline (40K events/sec peak) landing to S3 + Delta; achieved p95 end-to-end latency < 90s with checkpointing, watermarking, and idempotent writes; added on-call alerting and replay strategy."
Streaming claims sound strong but are currently generic. Specific throughput/latency and reliability techniques show you can operate production streaming systems.

Make dbt work measurable and include quality approach. Example: "Built 35 dbt models (staging + marts) and 120 tests (schema + freshness); introduced source freshness checks and incident runbooks, reducing data quality tickets by 30% over 2 quarters."
Saying "basic data quality checks" is vague and undersells the work. dbt is strongest when you show model count, test coverage, and downstream impact.
