About Information Architect roles

Information Architect is a mid-level title within software developer work in the software engineering space. Day to day, the role draws on Information architecture, Taxonomy design, UX research, and Content strategy. Hiring teams evaluate candidates on system design trade-offs, code quality, debugging under pressure, and how you ship changes reliably.

Prepare both halves of the process here: tighten your resume around the systems you shipped, their scale (users, requests, latency), and the engineering decisions behind them, then rehearse interview answers that walk through a situation, the decision you made, and a measurable outcome. A representative interview question for this field: “How do you validate that a new navigation and labeling system will actually improve findability?” Many candidates bring a background such as B.S. Information Science.
