About Political Consultant roles
Political Consultant is a mid-level title within political scientist work in the data space. Day to day, the role draws on R, Stata, Survey design, and Causal inference. Hiring teams evaluate candidates on how you frame ambiguous questions, choose methods, validate results, and turn findings into decisions.
Prepare both halves of the process here: tighten your resume around models, analyses, and dashboards tied to the decisions they informed and the lift they produced, then rehearse interview answers that walk through a situation, the decision you made, and a measurable outcome. A representative interview question for this field: “How do you translate a research finding into something decision-makers can act on?” Many candidates bring a background such as PhD in Political Science.
